Oh, I've heard of them. There's one song I really like by them. But I can't remember the name.

And I don't care what you say about Hillary Duff, she's an amazing singer and has become one of my favorites.

Unlike most of the people on here, apparently, I only have a few favorite bands. My favorite is probably R.E.M, which, thanks to my mom's love of them, I've been listening to probably since I was born. They are such an awesome band. Also, U2. I've also been listening to Flogging Molly, although right now I only have two albums: Drunken Lullabies (which 1337 gave me) and Swagger (which another friend gave me a copy of). Despite the fact that this is only two albums from one band out of the genre, I think it's gotten me hooked on Celtic Punk. Aside from that, I have a couple albums from the Shins, which is extremely surreal music. And sometimes I listen to the Soundtrack from Lord of the Rings, but that's about it. Oh, and sometimes I hum songs from 'Jesus Christ Superstar' which has the unique quality of being the only musical I've ever seen that I could listen to without getting the feeling that the songs were infecting my brain.

Yes, and ^ you have the tendency to recite the full twenty minutes of 'Albuquerque' at apparently random intervals to anyone who's listening without bothering to explain what exactly it is that you're actually doing.

My favourite band for about a year now has been X Japan. Although I'd heard of them, I had never paid any attention to their music until last year when Yoshiki (the band's founder, pianist, drummer and main songwriter) teamed up with Gackt, Miyavi and Sugizo to form S.K.I.N. I already knew and liked Gackt and Miyavi so I was interested in that new band and decided to find out about the other two members. I read up about Yoshiki, found he was from X Japan, and checked out his Myspace. One of the songs he had on there was "Tears", which I recognised from a CD of Japanese music that a student in my Japanese class had given me. I found it very beautiful and quite moving (especially when I read that he'd written it in memory of his father, who committed suicide when he was 10) and started checking out some of X Japan's other music on Youtube. I immediately fell in love with the band. Yoshiki is an amazing composer, writing in a number of styles ranging through lyrical ballads, rock, metal and classical. So far I haven't found anything he's written that I didn't like. Sadly, hide, their lead guitarist, died 10 years ago, but he was another incredible musician.

The band split up shortly before hide's death, but got back together again at the beginning of this year. They're due to be performing in Paris in November and I really hope I'll be able to get a ticket and travel over to France to see them. But their concerts sell out so fast, it may be hard to get hold of one.

-Flight of the Conchords(noticed they were not on anyone's list. Check them out as soon as possible).
-The White Stripes
-The Red Hot Chili Peppers
-My Chemical Romance

Dream Theater, Into Eternity, Between the Buried and Me, System of a Down, Seether, older Haste The Day, older Avenged Sevenfold, some Atreyu, Job For A Cowboy, Iced Earth, some of The Agony Scene, Linkin Park if I'm in the mood for it, and of course others I can't name all.

But Dream Theater is my ALL TIME FAVORITE band. That's an AMAZING group of guys, for real. Without a doubt, one of the most talented bands to be formed, and definitely at the top of the list for most talented bands out there today.

SOAD, Seether, Avenged Sevenfold, all good stuff. Haven't listened to Dream Theater.

@Jay: Flight of the Conchords is amazingness in a bottle. Or a CD. Absolutely incredible.

Favourite artist thread? haha, this may take a while. I really have too many to post in one setting, so edits will happen. Often. Anyway, here is my last.fm: http://www.last.fm/user/StevenJava
