Female hero works. Once Jayge gets the female merc animations done, and I get custom insertion working, then the Rythen character can be finished. I'll start working on getting another preview up after new maps are put in.

That means if you want to see another preview with custom maps, harass Iceland to finish the maps.

or you can still harass Jayge to finish spriting, whichever floats your boats

Just for teh lulz while we're waiting on some Event Editing Intel.
Also of note: There ARE two maps already designed, and I've successfully tested inserting them; waiting on showing them because while the maps themselves DO work, the current inability to event hack leaves them technically unplayable.

Those look wonderful. (And I wouldn't notice the frame rate - my computer's lagging :P )

EXCELLENT choice in character replacement. Couldn't have been better if we'd planned it!

Right then...long absence and not much to show for it, but i'm working on this atm:

Click!

frame rate still needs work, but i can actually work on it now, same story with making the movements smoother

Edit for current progress (otherwise i'll find an excuse to start slacking):

tweaked the sprites and framerate, and added the dodge frames to the end, leaving the old link above for comparison.

Click!

---------

Edit again: Mostly recoloured the Merc sprites, and did some general tweaking. These swords and sheaths are driving me nuts ><

Click!

My apologies for the long delay, had a few interweb troubles recently :/

anywho, it gave me time to think this through better: Click!

I'll animate it into the GIF that already has the main attack and dodge, and see if anything needs work (highly likely in any case >_>; ), then try to throw together some kinda demo with Zeth ripping apart some hapless soldier :3 enjoy

also, sorry for the double post ^^;

What can one say, impressive work as always.
Once we get some of these compiled and inserted I can get back to attempting the event editing.

To everyone interested though, a note:
Perhaps I'm simply stupid, but this event editing, no matter how long or hard I try, just isn't making it through. (Yes, just because I haven't been talking about it and have had other "stuff" going on doesn't mean I forgot about the project.) If somebody--ANYBODY--thinks they could try their hand at it, then "very appreciative" can't begin describe my feelings to them. Fire Emblem Universe has the most comprehensive tutorials that I've found thus far, but even the ones that are that are specifically aimed at people like me who simply DON'T get it are muddled and unclear.

I'd very gladly volunteer, but then you've already got my endless procrastination to deal with, along with my current failing to get zeth's crit looking even remotely decent...I might know a few people who could be of assistance though, so I'll run the idea past them, and maybe you'll see a couple'a new blokes on the comm, if that's no problem to the rest of ya'll

So, was this just abandoned? Or is this project still on the back burner for the lot of you?

It's still on the back burner as far as I'm concerned. I have to stoke the fire now and again to keep it there.

For what it's worth, I have been trying to tweak/finish the Zeth sprites, albeit in a very lazy manner..

Managed to get the swordcrit looking decent, may need to jab in a few more key frames here and there

click~

And it ain't much, but I've amended the entire thing to a single spritesheet:

click~

I'm working on the ranged attack now, got a short version finished (never thought that repositioning an arm would be so damned tricky ><), but needs a lot of work. I'll post once I've got that and the crit done, then its on to the upclass version~

Oh! Very nice! The only thing I would change is that, in the critical, instead of simply chopping down (which in reality, with a sword like that would not be very practical) after the downwards chop on the enemy he forcibly pull the sword up and then yank it out of the enemy. Like the actions used in Seppuku; like that but used on the other person.

I love it though!

Taking this as a silly opportunity to dust off my tablet, you mean something like this?
Image

The top one is what I was thinking before..kinda, but then I'm starting to think that I'm focussing on the wrong part of the attack anywho.
The bottom on is how I'm imagining the finished one...again kinda xD; its hard to put the thing in my head down onto paper/tablet ^^;

Just to clarify, is his sword a katana or rapier-style thing? I really should have asked earlier, thinking on it XD but I just assumed it was a Katana, and envisioned some great dropping-cleave-thing, but this sketch sits better in my head now that I've doodled it~

Also, another thing I've been meaning to ask, was he supposed to be wearing a coat of any kind? Once again I made a silly assumption on that note and sprited him in a weird black jumpsuit-ish thing. I'll make any necessary amendments asap :P

Ja, it's a katana. And man, those sketches are awesometastic! I think as long as the last two frames look like they flow naturally/smoothly then that would be great. the biggest thing I had with the last version was that when he slams the sword into the opponent in the crit, you notice that in his crouch while the sword is still in them, his arm is outstretched--really he should be closer and the arm bent from the force needed to pull it through the flesh.
