A friend showed me this tool and I thought you'd find it helpful.

http://www.reclaimprivacy.org/facebook

Basically you take the "Scan For Privacy" link and drag it to your bookmarks bar. Then you go here and click the link in your bookmarks. It'll check your Facebook privacy settings and suggest changes if there's something that's not secure.

I thought it was useful because I'm a pretty private person and Facebook is notorious for not being considerate of its users' privacy at all. So if you're also a private person, or if you're worried about your information getting out there, this may be a helpful tool for you.

Additionally, a survey found that 60% of Facebook users may quit over privacy settings.

I had to chuckle at "friends could accidentally share personal information with others".

Yeah...they still can. :-P

I never found this thread, (which I'm wondering how?) but I do have the tool on my browser right now. Works pretty well, as far as privacy is concerned. I'm glad the thing itself is not malignant or anything. :)

When it comes to matters of security, people are the weakest link.

They're in the process of updating the scanner due to the new privacy settings, in case anyone was wondering.

I'll just leave this here: People not so eager to quit Facebook after all?

I had no idea about the day, but I guess that's fine because I wouldn't have done it anyway.

Also: Do Facebook's new privacy settings REALLY protect your privacy?

7 Things to Stop Doing Now on Facebook

I found this to be incredibly useful, so I thought I'd pass it on.
