And now introducing my latest little beasty, it took me just over two hours, and I hate it to bits after a series of irritaing screwups...aaanyway, I quite like the way this one turned out, but I want to know, does the lack of shading on the creature work? Should I try to cell/soft shade it?

Please let me now what you think

I like it, but... where is the head? Is there supposed to be one?

@Hillio: the railing doesn't exist in my world of lazyness, that, and I couldn't get it to look like anything half decent, so I left it out. Just imagine that it's there.

@Nephalae: the head is the grey bit in the rough center of the pic, it doesn't have any real features, just a kind of aerodynamic shell.

I think it looks pretty effective. I found the absence of shading didn't really register. If it had been something larger and more solid, I might have felt it looked a bit flat, but because it's a very slender creature, I think it looks fine just as it is.

man, it's been far too long since I posted here...
I got a tablet over christmas which I'm rather happy about *practically bouncing off the walls with joy and happydances*
...
*ahem*
anyways, this is the first proper piece of artwork I've done with it, the linework was an old pic I'd drawn ages ago, touched it up a little and 'inked' with the tablet, then colored in the same fashion, all done on gimp in about two-three hours

I really like that lineart, and the colouring suits it well.

Intriguing background. Does it represent anything? The blobby things look like they could be ghosts or something.

That's pretty much it..
this is a very old OC of mine, one of my first little attempts at a demonic chara. In this case, a demon who collects souls and is capable of using them as weapons/wings/missles/just about anything he needs..I really need to throw him at a new rp somewhere....
I'm glad you like it ^^

A little update, this is my previous mascot: Berty the heartless.

original sketch: (pencil on paper, about half an hour)
Image

color version: (tablet on gimp, nearly three hours)

You may be seeing a fair bit more of him soon, or maybe not..Kweh seems to have replaced him ;p

But that's one of the most awesome things I've seen...in nigh forever!
I love the simplistic form, many people seem to want to get too in depth nowadays, or go to the other extreme and draw a tiny oval with eyes twenty times the size of the oval-head.

He's so cute! I like the sketch, but the gimp one's better, methinks. The purple really suits him. Nice job on the shading btw.

He maybe heartless, but he's really cute. I think he's gorgeous! I like both drawings. You've obviously put a lot of work into the gimp one, but the simple pencil drawing still captures his essence really well.

Those are wonderful! I love both of them. :)

(And I agree with Cata. What a pity you haven't entered the fanart contest. I don't suppose the rest of today is long enough notice to come up with something. :p)

Hehe, there was a fanart contest? Seems I've paid a heavy price for inactivity xD;

I'm glad you like them though, should have some more pics drawn up soon, and hopefully I'll be able to put them a together impressively...eventually...

Edit: awww....*just read the contest thread* and that sounded like such fun. Guess I'll produce something, even if it's not for the contest itself. I'll keep an eye open for more contests in future :3

Annnnd bump, my apologies for doubleposting :3

After a week of no internet access, I return with a non-entry pic for this contest~

Just a little bit of fun that took me a couple of night's work, nothin special, but plenty of opportunities to play with special effects and stuffs

Very nice! The close-up of his face is particularly impressive.

(And it would have been really nice to have had a full-colour CG entry in the contest to add some variety.)

Seeing as I'm slowly getting somewhat active around here again, I figured I'd give ya'll an update...

The last thing I drew with my tablet before losing it to my little brother...

Something more traditional...

A little mix of both digital and traditional...(bleach themed)

Enjoy, and peace out. Seeya'll on the Realm :P

Those are lovely. I'm especially impressed by the first one, but all three are really nicely drawn. I love the way you've done the light and shade on the blades in the second one. (And if the title didn't say Urza and Raid, I'd have asked if they were a young Renji and Kyouraku. The left-hand one (Urza?)'s hair and weapon and the right-hand one's flowery shirt remind me strongly of those two. :P )

Oh my, I'd never thought of that before xD Now that you mention it though, I can somewhat see the connection.

Urza, on the left, is using weapons that I figured would be rather fun, seeing as they'd operate in much the same way as my poi do, with a somwhat pointed twist xD

Raid, on the other hand, is wearing a simplified version of a shirt I own and love, only the real one's got a dragon on it~ hell if I'll ever be able to doodle the real thing ^^;

Very glad you like 'em :3 these are probably the very best pics I've ever produced

Right-oh, let's try to revitalise this thread...got some new-ish sketches of my main OC, Jayge, that I'll be working on other the next few weeks.

First one, sadly the paper I used didn't like my pencil too well and the whole thing kinda bled/smudged, so it looks very messy. Basically the closest I've ever gotten to a proper Character ref for the poor guy...(the boots are perhaps my favourite part of this ^^; )

Second one, an example of the silly things that Jayge can do with his Tyran gene-trans abilities. Shame about the arm of his jumper though, I love that thing :/

Third one, not for the faint of heart... A further example of what happens when Jayge's gene-trans goes somewhat wrong and the Tyran takes over, somewhat gruesome having that creature emerge from your spine, but that's what you get for letting me read Abara xD;;
If you can make it out, the pic on the top left is actually distinct from the bottom right, that one is a more controlled transformation.

I'll be making coloured, and more detailed versions of these pics as I can be bothered to, may be a good chance to fiddle with livestream in the process...Lemme know what you guys think :3

Those are all really good! (And apparently my heart isn't faint at all. ;P) I get so jealous of you because you have art ability that I don't, because I have none at all to start with.

But seriously your work looks great. =)

I'll echo Lindy's opinion. I like them all very much. I'm particularly impressed by the right-hand, detailed, version in the first image. You've got good proportions, excellent detail, and it conveys a very nice sense of movement.

If you're upset about him ruining his jumper in the second one, just get him to buy another one (or several, all the same style :lol: ). And I'm not at all squeamish about the monster coming out of his spine. I think it's awesome. :D (Just out of curiosity though - he doesn't look especially happy - does it bother him when that sort of thing happens?)
