Sweet action pose on the second one. And I don't know why, but I really like the last one's cape.

I don't particularly mind people knowing if it means they'll put more work into the piece. I think the theme is pencil sketches, unless Cata changes his mind. I'll have more info about it later.

Rather a bit later for the contest if possible. My project enters walk-about alpha at about that time, and I will be waaaaay too busy.

On the second one, her face looks a bit squished. Drawing faces at that angle is a total pain, though.
My favorite is the last one, but the one before it is good too.
You did a good job of making him kinda 3D, or pop out. That and the sketchy quality to it is better than the rest, if that makes sense. (Take THAT, art teachers! Line petting can look awesome and YOU KNOW IT!)

I learned how to draw like that...

Yeah, I learned how to draw from a drafting course, I'm weird...

It's just, I've always line-petted, and I think it looks awesome. But I kept on getting yelled at "NO LINE-PETTING!"
It makes it a bit of a nuisance if you plan on inking it, although it you keep with the style and do the same in ink, that can look pretty cool too.

Also, because I'm too lazy to send a PM over it, what WOULD be a good time for it, Cata?

Early October, a bit past my birthday. I'll use some b-day money to buy some fine-liners...

This is the first opportunity I've had to look at this thread. There are some really lovely pictures. My personal favourite out of the last set is the 5th one. (And the Darth Muffin one amused me. :D)

I agree with whoever said earlier on that some of the shading in your original art could be improved, but I love the fine detail that you manage to get into your line art. I also tend to do pencil drawings (though not very often these days) and I often find that they end up looking unclear by the time I've added all the detail, but yours have all remained clear and vibrant. I really like them.

I also liked your felt tip one (and I know the problem of no skin colours :p).

Just for the record, I try not to shade my work to make it easier to color when I scan them in, that and I don't like it.

Also, the fifth picture, is my hunter on Monster hunter, it's cool armour, so I couldn't resist drawing it~

more pics, only two, but the'yre decent:

a phailed attemp at myself as an FE myrmidon/mercenary, don't know which it suits best:
Image

and now my Narutardiness is showing, a piece of fanart I'm quite proud of:
Image

Edit: a few more for ya:

This time, I'm showing off my shading with these two, this is what happens when you leave me alone in a room for three hours with a deck of YUGIOH cards:
Image

Image

and this is my main character on the Hunters Realm, Jayge Ashera:
Image

this is my main character on the Sorrow's Falter, Rai, a demon with interesting artifcial wings:
Image

a quick sketch to show off my wing-drawing skills, which phailed horribly.. good pic though:
Image

Another character from my non-existant monster hunter comic, Casey Faulkner, a Khezu hunter in full gear, with his main prey next to him, although ver badly drawn:
Image

a set of character's from a sub-plot like thing, delving into Jayge's past, Mad Jack and Wolf:
Image

and thats it for now, more later. :3

The two ones where you were showing off your shading are awesome. The first one especially.

I like the Naruto fanart too though.

I have another piece of Naruto work, a custom character I made in competition with a girl from my class, I quite like it but Imageshack doesn't....so you'll have to look at my DA account to see it, if you can be bothered, it's not that good that you should go out of your way to see it though...I'm rambling....I'll shut up now...

Some of those pictures are gorgeous! Like Inuit, I think the two where you were showing off your shading are brilliant, and I really like the Naruto one. Is Kiba one of your favourite characters?

I also love your Jayge one. My one criticism would be that his legs seem rather short, or does he actually have short legs? But apart from the drawing of him, I really like his design. He's precisely the kind of character I tend to choose if I'm creating a male character in an RPG or whatever.

one of, the gaatsuga technique is a work of art in my opinion.

And as for my own 'Naruto-esque' work, I've finally finished the team, that is three studnets and a teacher. I quite like them and have done a few pics of each of them. They'll be appearing soon, IN COLOR! MWUAHAHAHAHAHAAA!

Great shading. I wish I could shade like that.

I really like that. I think he looks great in colour. :) I'm impressed by how effective he looks with so few shades of each colour. I would probably have tried to make it much more complicated but you've shown how unecessary that is.

Right then.....for this pic, I've tried out the evil smudge tool....I could litterally feel it sucking out my soul with every stroke....and there were a lot of those....

Anyhow, this is the Midnight Kriln, it's one of a series, so expect more, but they may not have as much time put into them, as this one took all F'ing day...Imma gonna sleep now..*dies*

I like that. I think it looks rather cute. :P

And I read your comment about not being used to soft shading or even colouring digitally. I'm exactly the same. I find it so much quicker and easier to colour with traditional media.

You should see the rest of the little buggers, I've got about six at the moment, and about eight in my head, ready to be put on paper, I'm gonna draw them out properly, color them on teh compy, then post them here. (or on DA)

This could take a very long time..

MWUAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA! It is finally finished....this took me DAYS!!
so here ish my first proper soft shading piece, let me appologize, fisrt off, for reposting this one picture three times now (?) but from now on, I plan to make every pic (or at least every one I can be bothered to do) to this standard, so please, enjoy: Image

Please comment, I need to know how well/badly I've done with this, so I can improve it.

Is there a larger version of that? Your link just leads directly to Imageshack home.

I can fix that if you wish.
