Brilliant! If you haven't spotted it already the URL's in the first post of the main Mercurycraft thread. We're not using whitelisting any more (that particular world died a death and we didn't reinstate the mod on the new one) so you can just join any time you like.

Actually, that Tumblr post is very out of date now. We've been through a couple of different worlds since Sam made that, due to Minecraft updates or server glitches spoiling things.

You should have the latest client but you don't require any mods. The relevant mods are installed on the server. I can never keep up with what mods are on there - Sam (ClanSoul - also sometimes appearing as Flintbane) and Tom (Xotame, his friend and the other admin) put mods on, find problems with them and take them down again, but if either of them is on when you are they'll be able to explain everything.

The main world lets you toggle between creative, survival and adventure mode at any time, according to your personal preferences, by typing /gm. There's also a survival-only world, reachable through a portal on the edge of Triton, the town you spawn in. If you're planning on building anything on the grand scale of the one in your post, you'll probably need to move away from the town - it already has a castle. But everyone is welcome (and encouraged) to build themselves a house in the town, and any other small edifices that wouldn't be incompatible with a town setting. Away from Triton you can build anything you like.
