As of today, Infinity's Blades is officially one year old!

So I made cake :D

Feel free to reminisce. Or however you spell it. Or eat cake.

You know, somewhere in the back of my mind, Cata, I'm still irritated about that...

*hands out cake to everyone*

I choose to reminisce about Cassius falling asleep with Nephie, when he said something gushy, and I was in a very odd mood the day after. Several of my friends inquired as to whether or not I was using illegal substances...

And the cake was yummy ^-^ I wonder if there's still some left in the fridge... *runs to find out*

I feel as if certain people around me are... a little too immersed in this little world I've created.

That being said, I'm experimenting with an IB campaign setting for DnD 4.0

That should be interesting.

Even though 3.0/5 pwns the pants off of 4.0/

I know, but 4.0 is easier to work with. I AM keeping the parts of 3.5 that I like and don't add much complexity (see: alignment and level curve)

Yeah, 4.0 has different exp requirements for levelups.

Oh, right.

I actually like the way they do XP better in 4.0. Each monster has a given XP amount, which is always true. It doesn't change as you go up in levels.

I'm keeping that, but I'm using the old geometric exp requirement system from 3.5.

EDIT: Also, cross-class paragon paths, which means the return of effective prestige classes.

Are you keeping the powers? Because those, in my opinion, were the worst deviations. They made the classes all too alike, took away their individuality.

Can't, that's what makes 4.0 so much simpler in the first place. I could just forgo the RPG route and so something based off 40k...

All I know about 4.0 is a basic rule that I learned the one time I tried to play it, to wit: any gaming system under the sun fails utterly if none of the players have studied the rules beforehand. Also if there is a eight-year-old involved.

Wow, a full year. That's epic. Er, congratulations.

I've found the bottom edge is 15 for guys and about 13 for girls...

Mhm.

I personally love most of 4.0. The one thing about it that bothers me is the new skill system, and the new magic system. I love the powers idea, but I liked 3.5's spell system better. I also liked 3.5's skill system better; more customization, more dynamic characters. To be fair, though, and list some things about 4.0 I like... the combat system is much more fluid, and skill challenges can be run 10 times easier once you understand the system. As a DM, 4.0 is very, very useful.

I like 4.0's skills. Less to keep track of, and it doesn't take six hours to level up.

Well, the powers themselves don't suck, but the fact that they exist does.

If it means that we can get what used to take 5 hours done in 45 minutes, I'll live.

It took you five hours for an adventure? And now it takes you forty five minutes?
Something's wrong with your DM. I mean, seriously.

Your adventures weren't five hours? I'm questioning yours...

But actually, if that's true then done right, your mix should actually make for better RPing rather than 4.0s stated lack there of.
