These represent all the hallways and corridors in the ship that aren't specific rooms.

[From Main Hangar]

Shaina picked up her pace while clumsily stuffing her sonic spanner back in her jacket.

"Hang on now! You're headed the wrong way!"

"Wait, already?" Jayge skidded to a halt, to small ceramic parts of his boots making an odd squeal against the decrepit flooring. "I thought I'd be good for at least a few minutes...Okay then, where too, great and mighty map-woman?" he asked with a slightly sarky tone, though his playful grin was present as always.

Shaina looked sceptically from Jayge to the other direction of the hall.

"The complete opposite direction, actually..."

"*sigh*...Fine, lead on then." Jayge huffed, ambling back along the corridor at a disheartened pace. He almost looked serious for a moment there. Almost...

Keris stood still and consulted her tricorder. There were clusters of lifesigns in various parts of the ship. The largest groups appeared to be in a couple of locations somewhere beneath her, and up near the front of the ship, probably the bridge, she surmised. It might be best to steer clear of those groups until she had more of an idea who they were. But the readings showed that in several places the strangers were moving in pairs and, as luck would have it, one of those pairs appeared to be further down this same corridor. She set off in that direction. Ideally, she'd like to find a hiding place to observe them from but, if not, odds of two against one didn't sound too bad.

Shaina sealed her lips comically as her mildly disgruntled commander trudged back to her like a kindergartener to their mother.

"Righto then, if we head down this direction, she waved her hand in the opposite direction of which Jayge had dashed off, "We'll reach a lift which can take us down a few decks. There appears to be some damage in the lift tube farther down though, so we'll have to find another one at the deck we depart to."

"You should have said so in the first place...honestly, how's an idiot supposed to get by these days?" said kindergartener drawled with a mock-pout as he approached, "Seriously, haven't I discouraged you people enough from relying on me already?" he continued, though his eyes began to burn amber as his ears perked up somewhat.

He could hear something...no, that wasn't quite right...he could feel it. Some form of radiation, his Metroid cells were responding to it...a probing device perhaps? He'd never felt anything quite like it before, that was for sure.

"I think we're about to have some fun~" Jayge smirked, once again clearing his blade in its sheath with his thumb, who could know what was coming, after all.

Keris made her way slowly down the corridor, alternately looking around for possible dangers and studying the tricorder to check her targets' progress. Right now one appeared to be stationary, while the other moved towards him or her. Were they going to be stopping there, or was the first just waiting for the second to catch up before they moved on? If so, they would be coming in her direction. Every now and then she passed a door and tried it, but they all appeared to be locked. It seemed that an encounter in full view would be unavoidable.

She rounded a bend. Just a little further on was what looked like an elevator. Was that where the pair were headed? There was another corner further on. If this was their destination, they should be coming into view soon. She darted back round her own corner, hooked the tricorder on her belt, and waited, listening intently, her fingers tense against the trigger of her disruptor.

"Huh?" And just like that, the probing radiation halted. Jayge found himself a little confused...he'd definitely never felt anything like this before.
"Eh, maybe I was wrong. Must've eaten something funky last night." he shook his head, stepping forwards and taking a look down the darkened corridor.
"...A corner at the end? Just great...shame it's so dark 'n all. This place seriously needs some TLC, don'cha think?"

As Keris stood there, pressed against the wall by the corner, and straining her ears for the sound of footsteps, or anything else that might indicate her targets were coming into range, she fancied she heard a voice. She stopped breathing so that she was standing in absolute silence. For a moment she thought she must have imagined it, but then it came again. She couldn't make out any words, but it was definitely a voice, and it definitely wasn't very far away.

Shaina moved on quietly as her fearless leader bumbled along just behind her, gabbing as he had the tendency to do. She didn't mind in the slightest--she did so quite often herself.

At the mention of the dark she held up her spanner and set the diode at the end to maximum brightness, pointing it ahead like a torch.

"A corner to you, an change of direction to me. Funny how something can mean the same but say two totally different things about people.

"And yes, it certainly could. A lot of it. I'd work on this place for a lifetime or two to put it in top shape with the materials available."

A second voice. This one sounded female. It also sounded slightly closer. So, it was a male and a female, and they were still moving towards her. Nothing untoward there. But the sound carried well in the empty corridor, and this time she fancied she could make out one or two words. And they definitely didn't sound Romulan. She switched off her universal translator for a moment to try to identify the language.

Something that sounded like cood....lot... Single syllables like that could come from anywhere. But then, quite clearly: lifetime. There was no doubt about it. They were speaking Federation Standard! The Federation? Here in Romulan space? How did they get this far without anyone spotting them?

The time for waiting was over. There was no doubt now. These people had no right to be here. With an expression of grim determination on her features, she emerged from her concealment and strode across the open space in front of the lift shaft, towards the corner at the opposite end. A dim glow on the short visible patch of wall at the start of the next corridor betrayed the fact that someone was approaching with a torch of some kind.

She raised her disruptor and strode into the centre of the corridor to confront the intruders.

"Halt!" She ordered, her voice ringing down the passageway. "Explain your presence here!"

Shaina and Jayge stopped dead at the sudden emergence of the odd looking lady. First thing that struck Shaina was the ridiculous get-up she was wearing. Second was just how clever this person must be to sneak up on the duo like she did--unless she'd been sitting there waiting before Shaina and Jayge ahd arrived in the corridor. then she noticed the weapon pointed at her. Shaina raised her hands just slightly, as if she were too lazy to give up completely, her spanner's light directing up. She wasn't really sure how to respond to the lady, who spoke with a decidedly weird accent. One not even Shaina's miniaturised TARDIS could compensate for. Then again, since she arrived her, Shaina had started getting used to that feature not working so reliably. Lucky for her people here spoke some form of communication the TARDIS did know.

"Oh, um, yeah. Hi!" Shaina looked at Jayge quickly with a thinly veiled 'this isn't a space pirate' expression. "We're, uh, just looking around. This," she spun her spanner-torch around to indicate the ship around her, "isn't yours is it? It's a lovely little place. Definitely a lived in look though. Very lived in. Lived-and-died in look, really..."

"You think so? I reckon there's quite some life left in this old hulk." Jayge chuckled amiably, hands thrust quite flippantly into his pockets as he took on a somewhat off-balanced stature, putting on the most disarming smile he was capable of. This strange woman had piqued his curiosity, all of a sudden.
"But aye, we're just exploring, surely you're doing the same? I wasn't aware that anybody lived out here any more." He was trying to sound friendly, though he expected little success, and really didn't like the looks of that little pop-gun of hers.

And here he had thought that this might just get boring.

Now that the torch was no longer pointing in her direction, Keris could glean a better view of the Federation pair. In the dim light reflected from the ceiling she could make out their features. They both looked human, and their style of speech was what she had come to expect from humans. Why did so many humans sound casual, or even flippant, when confronted by an opponent? It made little sense to her. She had made the effort to learn Standard, the human language that had become the lingua franca of the Federation, but she never felt any inclination to study the culture of this weak and irrational race.

Having satisfied herself that these people were precisely what she had assumed, she switched her translator back on and spoke again, this time in Romulan. There was no point in making extra work for herself by speaking to them in their own language; humans would certainly be carrying universal translators of their own.

<"The ship is of no importance. Do not try to sound friendly. You know full well that incursion into Romulan space by Federation personnel is tantamount to an act of war, and this is not even close to the neutral zone. Explain what you are doing within the sovereign territory of the Romulan Star Empire.">

Jayge's face blanked.

"...Uh...I'm confused. Really confused." he looked from this woman, who was getting strange by the second, in his opinion, to his companion with the spanner. What language could that possibly have been? It sounded like something he'd heard once, coming from a half-dead Kroot.
"Did you get any of that? I think I understood something about a war, neutrality, and something not being important...or...someone being impotent...You don't think she's insulting us, do ya?" he asked imploringly, though light-hearted as always.

Shaina lowered her hands and shown the spanner towards the group's feet, rather hoping some other member of their lazy crew would get their arse moving to meet up with them.

"Not any language I'm familiar with. If you think you got even that much correct you've more than I." She directed her attention back to the lady with the gun and kept talking as the fingers and thumbs of her right hand began playing with the controls of the spanner in a manner that anyone who didn't know any better could probably mistake for a nervous tic. "Yeah...we're not getting any of this. You could switch back to English, right?"

Keris was taken aback and for a fraction of a second her air of confident authority wavered. She was totally unused to speaking her own language and not being understood. Her instinctive reaction was to assume these two humans were feigning a lack of comprehension. But why would they want to do that? They had nothing to gain from it. But whatever their reasons, she had nothing to lose by complying with the woman's request to speak... English? Since when did anyone still use that archaic term?

"If you wish that. But the language of our communication will not change your fate. You are enemies of the Romulan Star Empire. If you have no good explanation, you will be executed. That is the fate of Federation spies."

Keris suddenly realised that speaking Standard well enough to still sound like she was in charge when confronting enemy personnel wasn't easy.

"Now, tell your reason that you are in Romulan Space."

"Okay, on second thought I'm starting to think she's making fun of us..." Jayge sighed, leaning further back where he stood and folding his arms behind his head.
"I've not heard of this 'Romulan Star Empire' before in my life, and this space certainly isn't under anyone's jurisdiction, it's been dead for decades."
Could she be being serious? He doubted it, but she didn't look like she was playing them for fools either...
"Wait, Federation spies? You don't mean the GF do ya? Pah! To think we came all the way out here only to get lumped with them idiots anyways." he moaned, at least she knew about the Galactic Federation, that killed off most of his wilder theories as to why this woman was so...out of sorts here.

Shaina thought the term "Romulan" sounded familiar, but it didn't bring to mind anything particularly helpful, so ignored it. She suddenly brought her spanner up and seemingly casually brought it level with the woman's weapon, running her thumb over a final control. Nothing seemed to happen, and Shaina found another reason to run her mouth.

"The thing about molecular disruptor devices is that that green glow is very distinct and recognisable. I'd put that down just in case I over compensated there and its about to be disrupted from the inside. Wouldn't want to lose your hand. Actually, throw it down that ways," the timelady stepped aside, indicated the hallway farther down, "I was guessing on those settings and if I got it wrong that's a small bomb now."

"...You're so kind." Jayge mumbled, noting the woman to be unarmed now...though thinking on it, standing next to someone with a small molecular disruption warhead in their hands certainly struck him as a silly idea. He didn't intend to be quite that silly.
"Tell ya what, seeing as I really haven't a clue as to just what you're talkin' about, why don't you follow along nicely and we'll explore this wreck together. Nothing to be lost in good company, eh?" he said as he strode past, making for the corner. "Perhaps we'll even find something worth you protecting from us horrible Federation spies~" he added through his teeth, glancing back over his shoulder as he walked. Really, she could have at least asked before making so crude an accusation.

"Your..." Keris paused to think of the correct word, ... bluff... does not fool me. I will not let you pass so easily."

She swung round and aimed the disruptor just ahead of the man has he tried to pass her, so as to fire a warning shot. She pulled the trigger. Nothing happened. Staring at the weapon in disbelief, she fired again. Again, nothing. So that stripling of a human woman had been telling the truth? How could that little torch thing possibly have disabled her disruptor? Then she heard the telltale whine that indicated an overload. Not only had the woman not been bluffing, she hadn't been exaggerating either!

Keris turned, dashed the few strides to the corner and hurled the disruptor. It flew the length of the next short stretch of corridor, hit the floor at the far end, bounced against the wall, and rebounded round the second corner, where she had previously been lurking. Quickly, she backtracked to her original position, and pressed herself against the wall.

Mere seconds later there was a deafening explosion that re-echoed through the deserted passages of the ship.

Keris found herself at a loss. She was now unarmed and facing two apparently very well equipped hostiles (even if they did seem to be oddly friendly hostiles). She looked at the woman with renewed respect.

"It appears that I am now your prisoner." Maybe if she acted in a co-operative manner, they'd get complacent, and she'd find a chance to escape back to her shuttle and rearm herself. "But I still wish to know... how did you come to here? It is far from the Neutral Zone and we have many security watching."

"Bloody-" Jayge swore as the explosion rocked him, steadying himself against the nearest wall. Small sections of his skin turned a lucid black were shrapnel and debris scathed across him.
"Well at least the Pirates know we're here now, we can expect a fair fight." he knocked a piece of shrapnel from his shoulder, standing upright again.
"We just flew straight in, the only people out here to be careful of are the Space Pirates who got here first...Oh! And we don't take prisoners darlin', we leave corpses. Often in funny positions with other corpses. Now if you wanna tag along then do so, you're welcome to, just stop pointing weapons at us, and we're golden~" he waved his hands about emphatically, as though enjoying himself a great deal simply through talking. "I, for one, am quite anxious to get moving." and with that, he resumed his course for the elevator, his hand once again dropping unconsciously to the hilt of his blade.

Keris was now utterly confused. From the way the man had described things, they hadn't avoided security forces; they simply hadn't encountered any. There was something wrong there. And he had said they didn't take prisoners, yet he was showing no inclination to kill her. Spies could not afford to let her go free. And space pirates? What was this all about? You didn't get space pirates within the empire. The government would never allow such freebooters to roam around uncontrolled.

Another thing bothered Keris too. Admittedly there was very little light here, so she could have been mistaken, but she could have sworn that parts of the man's skin had changed colour momentarily.

There were too many questions and it didn't look like she was about to get any straight answers. Maybe it really would be worth tagging along with this pair. The best way to find out what was going on would be to stay with them. But first she needed to be armed.

"I shall accept your invitation. I shall go with you to find the Space Pirates of whom you speak. However, I must have a weapon. If I am not a prisoner, I shall return to my ship and bring another. If you prove that you are not spies, I shall not use it against you. You may continue; I shall find you with my tricorder."
