Richard sagged as people didn't comment and left the room. "Guys, I'm showing you how all the galaxy is connected. How something that used to be so far away they named it after a God is now barely a stones throw away. And not even one of my thrown stones, but one of Sheps, no offence big guy, I've just got one hell of an arm."

At Caulder's Question Richard turned to him, a bit brighter in disposition. "Oh. Yeah, certainly. I mean, I suspect the shielding isn't too different from your own when you do that thing that you do, but expanded, like you had offered. They just have a larger battery or something. As for the method of travel, It's probably not as convenient as yours, since you can go from anywhere to anywhere, whereas we're going to be using a network that connects two points, but the side effects are significantly less... I suppose vile is a decent enough word for it."

Shepard turned to Richard and Caulder. "Are you suggesting he uses..." He began before being cut off.

"No, I'm pretty sure you're just inferring things from a completely innocent conversation, and my personal friend wouldn't dream of using Warp based technology in Corporate space, commander." Richard retorted. "I've got things to not be doing though. Bridge is all yours Emeris, Shep can give you a hand in the event anything comes up." He said, walking to the door.

Caulder didn't have to try very hard not to seem surprised at Shepard's response, it took effort to move his suit after all, but he did then suppose that he should stop being caught off guard when people actually realised what it was he was capable or working with. He regarded Shepard keenly.

"The Warp? No, that would be relatively insane, to use something like that for personal transportation." He turned his helm aside a little, "I suppose that if the technology works primarily by bringing two pre-existing points closer together, then it would not particularly improve my own technology. A pity, but thank you for indulging my curiosity." he said, partly as though thinking aloud.

"Ah, thanks, Richard. I think," M said, acknowledging Richard's departure. "I think I'd better return to my search group soon, though." The Nebari turned to look at Cassius, who was still staring at the viewport. The only such one to do so amongst everyone who had been on the bridge. "Of course, I could go ahead and get my medical examination out of the way first, Doctor Holt."

"So far away they named it after a God..." Cassius repeated before pausing and then tearing his attention from the hyperspace jump. "Ah, yes, of course, that...would be most efficacious. I appreciate your willingness to co-operate."

[Cassius and M to the Medical Bay; anyone who wants to do their medical exam "on-screen" feel free to drop their character by in the next handful of days; I'm not going to bother with showing M's for now.]

Caulder watched the others leave, the looked back to Shepard and Miranda.

"I must admit, I have not had many dealings with the Lethain Corporation in the past." He lied effortlessly, though his suit would have made in near-impossible to tell regardless, "Would you be able to tell me a little about it and its practices?" He bridged his fingers together somewhat clunkily, again the suit made things interesting, and tilted his head slightly in a show of curiosity.

"I'm afraid I can't be too helpful on the business side of things. The company sort of has it's hands in everything, both essential and entertainment. It also has several exploration programs and a security force, obviously." Shepherd replied. "It tends to get along with it's other local businesses, such as the Von Carlsas, though it diversifies more than they do. Anything more particular you were interested in?"

"I was just curious in general, I must admit." It was hard to sound congenial through his suit, "I find it difficult to relax when relying on the service of another that I do not yet know well, which makes me somewhat wary of larger corporations by default." he raised his hands openly in front of him, trying to show that he meant nothing ill by it, then lowered them, taking a moment to choose his words. "I heard that the Lethain Corporation goes all the way back to old Terra, is that true?"

"It is," Shepherd replied simply.

Miranda looked up hesitantly from her PAD, to which she had desperately been trying to pay attention and failing miserably, feeling more self-conscious every time her eyes looked up to stare at Caulder. "That's where Richard Prime is from. 'Always best to start at the beginning,'" she repeated the last bit clearly from rote, and looked around as if not sure how to proceed. Shepherd expressed an interested look at her from over her shoulder, the sort a protective uncle might give a niece he wasn't used to speaking so assertively. "That's...sort of a company mantra. There are a lot of them. Terra is so small and old though. There isn't much profit in Sol system anymore. Company moved on a long time ago. Um...are you from Terra?" Shepherd's look turned to a barely detectable, knowing smile. "I-I just ask because you're...ah...you're really different from anything we've seen." Her face started to reddened a bit again and she fumbled with her outburst of confident curiosity. "I mean if you don't want to say that's fine, I was just...I was just curious."

Shepherd held a hand up to the comm hidden inside his ear--an old soldier's habit. "If you'll excuse me, seems I'm needed," he said to Caulder but inclined his head to Miranda, asking if she'd be all right on the bridge without words. She nodded sheepishly and the Commander strode off threw the doors.

"Thank you for your time, Commander." Caulder nodded to Shepard, then watched his departure with slight interest, before turning his attention back to Miranda. "I am afraid that I do not originate from Terra, no. I was actually born aboard this ship." Though 'born' was not really the correct term, he certainly preferred it to 'fabricated'. "I did practically grow up there though. I spent the majority of my childhood and adolescent years earth-side, running errands and being childish. I have not returned for quite some time, however." He said easily, enjoying the slight tinge of nostalgia that would no doubt be lost to his suit's vocal projectors. "You are curious of Terra, I would surmise?" he asked then, cocking his head to show his own curiosity.

Miranda ducked her head and ran a hand through her hair and along the back of her neck, wishing she could just melt into the bulkheads. "N-n-no, Terra's not very interesting..."

"So what is it that you are interested in?" Caulder asked, a little bluntly. He didn't need his sensors to pick up the heat coming from her face, and he was curious about what, exactly, was causing Miranda to act so shyly about this topic. "'Richard Prime', perhaps?" He tried again.

Miranda kept her eyes down and pulled her PAD up to her chest, closing herself off. "Um, nevermind. It's not important...Y-you probably have things to do." the girl suddenly seemed to remember something on the device that needed constant reading over and over again and withdrew from the conversation.

Caulder cocked his head again, though he decided not to pry.

"...Very well then. If you do decide that you would like to talk about this later, feel free to contact me via your PAD." As he spoke, he linked his communications system to her PAD, sending her a little 'Hello, this is Caulder.' message. "If I am able, I will make time for a conversation immediately." With that, he pushed himself up from his chair and stood up, giving Miranda a cursory nod and a short, but exaggerated bow.

"Until then."

He stood back up and headed for the door.

[Ending Timeskip]

"Green across the board, Hunter's Realm you are cleared to dock at FC-94; that's starboard of station centre, 22 degrees nadiral. Confirm, please."

M touched the comm button on the captain's chair. "Confirmed station docking authority, initiating automated docking. Thank you." Without prodding, the patrolman from Zabesh's squad set the automated navigation systems to synchronise with the docking authority of the rather large space space station the Realm was approaching. Well, 'very large' by M's standards, but he had been informed by Commander Shepherd that by Lethain Corporation standards, it was merely 'rather large'. Whatever it was, M thought it was quite impressive. The viewscreen was currently set to display the cameras aligned to their current vector, and the nebari could still observe the full scape of the station and its immediate cosmic surroundings.

It was the size of a large town or small city, and part of what it so interesting to M is that even being that size it was mostly part of one large enclosure. No doubt the Lethain engineers were very confident in their safety and stability measures. Although not really orbicular, it was enclosed by what would still best be described by a dome, most of which was entirely transparent. The base of the structure was large and round in shape, flat, with many protruding shapes and spires emerging underneath, peeking out from under the large round hood of the understood base of the station. Apparently their intended dock actually emerged from this undercomplex, and they would be traversing up through the centre to read the rest of the station. The 'rest of the station', as it was, was clearly visible within the dome; mostly a sprawling amalgamation of amusement park, vacation resort, recreated natural escapes, casinos and other such vacation facilities. Any actual town was undoubtedly overwhelmingly populated by those who worked and supported the station. M wasn't certain if those areas would be found in the nadir oriented complex or perhaps in some of the more messy looking areas of station structures located to the starboard side of the station base, perhaps even in some of the attached sections hugging the edge of the base and dome.

After the Pinafore had the Realm towed to their port of birth, Shepherd and company had concluded their inspection with more than a bit of expedited haste and informed M and Richard that their patrol port hadn't the facilities needed to provide the fuels and miscellaneous mechanical tune-ups and correlations for the Realm. In fact, the phazon needed to fuel the FTL drive would be difficult enough to acquire that it had to be labeled as "potentially impossible". Best solution decided upon was that a location with better maintenance facilities for frigate-classed ships that could also support extended shore leave should be the next--temporarily last--stop.

And this station, in orbit around the stripped core of some former gas or ice giant in a Red Giant star system, was that destination. Apparently the primary focus of the station was entertainment. When M had queried Commander Shepherd about that, the soldier had explained how the station had originally been built was a large-scale prototype military staging point at a time when the corporation had been facing more desperate times, but had only been partially completed by the time the threat was laid to rest. It had been respecced and completed to instead serve as a shore leave location for long-term border patrol forces. As time had gone on, the border for business was pushed further and further away until now the station was well within the company's proprietary space, and was a focal point of amusement for the general populace, burgeoning with invested entertainment and amusement prospects directly supported by the Lethain umbrella company, and simply known as LethainLand. There was still a small but significant chunk of the base that hadn't been developed to the port side. Still, it had many vestigial remnants of its original purpose, which included well designed maintenance structures and facilities for a ship of the Realm's size and class.

By now, LethainLand had filled the viewport, and the Realm was rotating to match its docking appendage, which was going to interface primarily with their primary hangar to allow spacious entry and exit. There was barely a shudder as they did so, and docking whips latched around the hull. M flicked through a view different port views on the viewscreen. The chip-chopped underbelly of LethainLand was littered with evidence of facilities that extended down from the base in one view. The rock and ice planetoid with its large red sun peeking over the edge as the station came around the former to start another artificial day was visible in another.

M switched the comms to intraship and opened them again. "Hello everybody, this is M. We have arrived at LethainLand, as planned and on time," it had been roughly a day since M had concluded his enlightening conversation with Wraith, "I don't know about the rest of you, but I certainly look forward to disembarking and enjoying myself in a more typical manner. I've been informed that Lethain will be footing the bill if we desire to occupy rooms in the resorts here. Disembark in one ar--hour, ship's time if you're desiring to do so. Main Hangar. Thank you."

Shepherd sniffed away a mildly sardonic grin. "No refunds if they didn't enjoy the cruise, I take it."

M smiled at the joke. "Only if you're willing to give them, Commander. Though they are as much guests as they are crew, really."

[To the Main Hangar, after a while.]
