M stood listening for a moment. "Thank you for your confidence, Timothy. Keris, I would be delighted to have your strict meticulousness overseeing the handling of weapons, for sure--can't be too careful. Caulder, perhaps you could relay any information you have on the current stock of the armoury to Keris, I think you were the last one to put in or take out anything from there..." he looked around questioningly at the others for confirmation.

"I conducted some salvage on my old chassis from the armoury," One volunteered. "I'll remove the rest and have the room repaired and cleaned."

"Very good. Co-ordinate with Keris as needed. Commander, may be best to familiarise yourself with security protocols of the ship itself soon too, but that goes without saying." He paused for a brief moment before continuing. "I don't know anything about your skills as a Cook, Timothy, but I see no reason to deny you the position if nobody else is volunteering..." another look around the room. "The job's all yours then. I have to say I'm a little confused about it being on the list with the replicating technology onboard. Not as confused as I am about what Timothy brought up about the Interrogative Tour Guide though."

M looked ponderingly at Cassius. "I'm sceptical about your request. You've definitely stated your credentials, and I've seen evidence of your healing yourself, but even you've said that healing one species isn't the same as healing any given other. And no offence intended, but I doubt you would know how to use most of the medical tools and technology that go with the role."

"Is there a present personage more highly qualified in such regards touched by your concern than I?" Cassius countered. "Admittedly, I have been investigating with no little vigour the finer aspects of the technology utilised by the infrastructure of this ship with dreadfully, neigh, woefully little comprehension. However, it bears telling that of those devices with a more intuitive interface such that requires no deep understanding of the inner mechanisms what are comprising the device and make it function I can learn quite steadily with no few insights as to what could be affected with them. I believe that with a determined effort I may come to a firm grounding in the use of the necessary implements. As to the matter of species apart from my own--" Cassius noted but ignored the gesture of Shaina sighing and pretending to look at a watch on her wrist, "--it should further be noted that it is indubitably a simple matter for me to acquire knowledge of alien anatomy and physiology, owing to what talents you yourself earlier referred."

M waited for a moment after Cassius's abrupt cessation of speech, possibly not expecting him to actually stop. "I...see. Well, again I guess I have no reason to deny you the position. Provided you don't kill your first patient. Of course if you do, I would find myself in a position to resign as Captain for making such a bad decision."

"Also," Shaina added, "the TARDIS called. He said you broke the translation matrix."

"Do-you-desire-what-I-speak-more-simply?" Cassius spoke like he was speaking to a slow child.

"Yes!" Shaina exclaimed. M and One nodded quiet acquiescence. Cassius shifted positions uncertainly at M and One's agreement but said nothing. Shaina snorted and produced three more holograms over the appropriate plaques. "Guess that leaves the weird one," Shaina said, indicating the Tour Guide/Interrogator plaque.

"I don't think we need to fill ALL the positions. Man's a commander, not a School teacher or an accountant. He just needs to know who to turn to if he has a question, not grade us or Give us a tax rebate." Richard replied, having sat back down at the head of the table. "I suppose we have more pressing issues than figuring out who gets to walk for hours showing off a ship they barely even know, then grilling the guests about whatever. Like the Light show about to happen. Could one of our more sciency people bring up some external cameras so we can see how we're getting Home. To the home base, I suppose would be a better way to put it, We're all drifters now, so whatever. Point is, the ride is really cool."

"Of course. I will send a report to her PAD immediately." Caulder nodded in response to M's request regarding the armoury. A tiny green light just under the rim of his helmet started flashing, and then Keris' PAD gave a little beep. "Complete itinerary of functional weaponry stored in the armoury, and overview of the available storage. I hope the information is organised efficiently enough to be useful, I have not had the time to sort it properly."

"I suppose that so long as the position is there and we're hoping to fill it. I'll volunteer as tour guide. I really doubt that the interrogator thing will come up any time soon, but I reckon I could fill that role as well without much trouble." Syn put in from the side. "Also, I reckon we could probably use a communications officer. I don't think we needed one way back when due to everyone knowing how to get in touch with everyone and such, or maybe it was more that we just didn't need one.. I can't really say for sure. In any case, Caulder seems like a good fit, if he doesn't mind me volunteering him for the role, should we need it. You're basically a walking switchboard at this point mate."

"Thank you. I think." Caulder looked at him and tilted his head, as if unsure of what to think about the suggestion. His little green wireless light flickered again. "I suppose that I do fit the role to some degree. I have just finished routing external sensors into the tactical table's display, it may be a little rough, but in the absence of external cameras, the projections they offer may well have to do."

"And here I thought you weren't an engineer, bubbles." Syn flashed half a smile his way, making his teasing obvious.

"I am not. If anything I would regard myself a technician. No good at hardware, but software is something of strong point." He tapped the side of his helm with his fingertip, "I have a bit of an advantage, after all, and you should well know the difference. Were you not around when computers were invented?" He asked, the distortion of his voice making it hard to tell if he were teasing back.

"Fair enough, and nope, those actually outdate me by a bit. Not much, but a bit. So hah." Syn returned, "I think it'll be cool to get the Realm back up and running, and less lizardly, again. But I do have one question, and I don't mean to offend by asking so feel free to shoot me down. What do you guys gain from this?" He asked of Sheperd and Miranda. "Is this a case of brownie points for helping lil' Lethain here, or are you hoping to put us to work afterwards or something? I mean, I'm in no way against networking and making friends, but this has to be costing yours side significant time and resources, so what makes it worth it to help us out?"

"I suspect he's following orders Syn. And considering the commander's side has the money and time to use on pet projects." Richard said as Commander Shepherd nodded.

"We'd be bringing the ship in regardless of the situation." Shepherd spoke up. "Currently we're helping you out of a bind. If you'd been breaking laws, we'd bring you in to arrest you. If the Ship had been Derelict then we would have retrieved it for study or Scrap. Really, the only situation where we wouldn't be escorting it would be if we were forced to destroy the Ship."

"So there you have it. He'd be here regardless of the situation. Syn has volunteered to give tours, and we're all prepped to fly off to the Wild not so unknown. Anything else anyone wants to get off their chest, or any questions?" Richard asked.

"This is very satisfactory," M said, with an unexpected tone of definitiveness. "If that's all we've been called together to take care of, we should get back to escorting the search parties. Caulder, co-ordinating communications would be more than welcome, although...One?"

"Yes sir?"

"Is it safe to assume that your apparent interface with the ship means you could route communications too?"

"Yes sir."

"Caulder, if you need to excuse yourself or if there is a concern over who is privy to a conversation, you know who to get in contact with." M smiled at everyone. "Let's be dismissed."

As people started mulling, Cassius grabbed M's attention with a hand to the shoulder. "Captain: I was hoping that I may procure your permission to conduct a search for a possession of mine, firearm, personal, that I believe may have been displaced from my person during the events aboard the ship I was brought aboard upon."

M paused, a bit uncertain. "I don't have any problem with it, but you might want to talk to Shaina about what's happening with that ship. If it's intact she may have found it already. If it's not...well there probably wouldn't have been much left anyway."

Cassius nodded, "My thanks--ah, one thing further," Cassius's hand remained on M's shoulder, and M waited patiently. "If I am indeed to conduct the services attributed to the station now occupied by myself, I should require an examination and biological sample of the crew in order to better familiarise myself with the varied biologies present before such occurrence befalls us that makes time and precision critical--banish all hopes such would, of course."

M pursed his lips, a bit torn about how to feel over Cassius's sudden eagerness, but knowing it was a more than reasonable request. "Fine. One more thing, everybody," M said loudly before anybody had quite stepped out. "At some point drop by the Medical Bay so Cassius can examine you and obtain a biological sample. He will be brief," he looked at Cassius, "and as unobtrusive as possible."

Cassius nodded his thanks again before turning to Shaina.

"Yeah, I heard ya, I was standing right here," she said without looking the elf in the face. "One'll take you to the Secondary hangar to look for thing."

"Is it a pistol with significant parts of silver and some sort of crystalline material?" One asked tentatively.

"Yes," Cassius replied.

"I found it already, but I'm not sure if it's damaged or not. I can get it for you."

"Indubitably," Cassius affirmed.

Keris looked up from her PAD, where she had been perusing Caulder's inventory of the armoury, and looked at Cassius, then M, then back at Cassius. Then scowled. Of course, it was completely reasonable for the ship's doctor to want to conduct a medical examination of all personnel - all personnel in the fleet back home, from the lowest to the highest, were required to undergo one on entry and again at regular intervals. But that didn't make the idea of being examined by him any less distasteful. She had hoped not to need his services unless she suffered serious injury. Might as well see if she could get it over with as quickly as possible.

"I shall be returning to my search team in the Med Bay right now. I would appreciate it if you would call in while I'm still there so we can get this examination out of the way. I have a lot of duties to attend to."

'Before you go, what Samples are wanted?' Timothy asked. 'I can bring them to you a bit later, or leave them in the Medical Bay with some Notes if you aren't there.' Better to magically extract them by Osmosis and present them in Phials, of which he had more than enough, he thought, than permit that Cassius do needlessly intrusive Things to him to get at them. He had some Trouble imagining how Fluids might be extracted from somebody without Magic other than slicing into them, and he rather doubted that Cassius would be gentle if such were necessary. Cassius did have something somewhat like Magic, but its Properties were unclear to him, and it seemed to be something entirely different mechanically.

'If nothing else is wanted of me, however, I had best probably find a Kitchen, in the Case that anybody does wish me to cook for them.'

Keris, who had already started for the door, paused and looked back over her shoulder at Timothy.

"You'll need to clean up and and probably refit the kitchen," she remarked bluntly. "I went there in search of food. It's easy to find with your PAD, but it clearly wasn't high on the dromes' list of priorities. It was a mess."

"Understood." Caulder acknowledged, deciding that he would have to synchronise his systems with One at some point, so that they could communicate more easily.

"You'll have to be careful with any samples from me mate, they're rather prone to somewhat-spontaneous combustion." Syn chuckled, though he didn't seem to be joking. "I'll head down to the Medbay once you're done with Keris, wouldn't want to get between you two and such a lovely, romantic setting."

"I think that collecting a sample from myself would prove to be difficult, but I will try to oblige." Caulder added, standing and heading for the door. Raine waited for him to be well on his way before chiming in.

"You'd best not try anything too intrusive, or I'll give you a sample through the chest." She said harshly, but otherwise seemed rather okay with the idea. "Gimme a shout on my PAD-thing when you're done with the others and I'll drop in for a checkup. I think I might go and help clear up this kitchen, if it'll get me another meal."

Cassius thought for a moment or two before responding. "Optimally a sample of each tissue produced by a given body would be procured. Without ado over the subject such a case is far beyond the realm of likelihood, I would make do with hair, skin, saliva and blood. Upon my word there is no reason for them to be and therefore they will not be large samples, provided no matter necessitates an extraneous sample. Without the initial I cannot anticipate the chances of the latter. For those possessing of more unique physiologies--I think now of Richard and Caulder, perhaps Raine--another sampling solution will be devised at the time and place of examination. These will all be of tertiary importance to the physical examination, however."

"I think you may have your work cut out for you with this crew." Caulder said before leaving.

"I second this." Syn added, "In any case, I think I'll bounce as well. Gotta go entertain our guests." He pushed himself off of the wall and moved for the door.

'I've certainly enough of those Materials, especially Hair,' Timothy answered. Hearing Cassius say most anything made him grin if he did not cringe, and he wished a little he were still using the Translation Software so that he could better gauge how it sounded compared with the generally idiomatic Speech the Software generated. 'I'm not sure a physical Examination will do you much good, however; I imagine, from what I've seen, that our Species are no more than superficially similar in many Regards.'

He did not really know how like the others he Was, but Timothy did not particularly like the Idea of being physically examined by Cassius. There would likely be very many Word Salads to be swallowed and digested, and he was not certain that he was equal to the Task. The language was no more his than it was Cassius's, and he had gotten it by a Quirk of being a literary Character, and yet...

Perhaps the Examination might be put off for a Day, or perhaps a Month or so. He was not planning on getting himself injured, and would hopefully not require medical Attention unless the Damage were very severe. Blood, Hair, Skin, and whatever that third Thing was — probably a Cassian Term for Water, he supposed — would not be terribly much Trouble, though it could be wondered what, exactly, might be done with them.

Richard Stood on the table and looked up at everyone else who had walked off to the exit. "You know, I'm starting to feel like I'm not being taken seriously. Now, normally I'd be fine with that, but I'm trying to direct your attention to something cool. I mean, aren't any of you even slightly curious as to how we're getting this whole ship from here to Shep's headquarters?"

Caulder stopped just short of the doorway, Syn just behind him.

"That does pique my interest." He replied, turning back to face the room.

"Are you going to get out and push, Rich?" Syn asked jovially, stepping out of Caulder's way.

"Are you saying we're being towed by something other than a tractor beam?" Keris asked, still standing near the door. She had turned back round to face everyone as additional discussion broke out. "I can route the external sensor readings to a monitor in the Med Bay. Is the view unusual enough that there'd be great benefit from seeing it in large-scale on this table?"

"Or you know, the giant forward viewport that exists for that exact reason." Shaina suggested.

Timothy was rather surprised when Richard mentioned that the Ship was to be towed in some novel Fashion, though whatever Way it was would likely seem novel to him. He wanted to ask what a Tractor Beam was when Keris mentioned it, but instead punched it into his Pad, and skimmed an Explanation. The Idea struck him as rather preposterous when one had sensible Things like the Electromagnets used to couple Trains, but they appeared to be common in Fictions — perhaps Keris was from one in which they were common? It would likely be good to know how, exactly, such a very large Vessel was to be towed, though Timothy did not know whether he would find it particularly interesting or not. Shaina suggested something about a Viewport, which was probably a Shainese Word for Window, or some Kind of visual Panel like the one in which the Pad Rectangles were suspended.

'Well, how are we to get whitherever it is we go?' he asked, and not altogether without apparent Curiosity.

"Well... Yes and no. They do use a tractor beam for placement, But due to the mechanisms of how we attain the speeds we want in our Faster than light travel, that would be akin to tying a rope to a Car and following on a pair of skates down a narrow Pathway. The vehicle that you can see through the forward viewport, or the table which is likely to get a better angle by virtue of choosing one, is designed to create a Field around the Ship." Richard said, gesturing to the Viewport and the then the table at his feet. "Huh. I suppose this would have a better angle if there weren't a cabbage patch standing on the viewscreen." He then made a few hand guestures from the table and waved off towards the primary view screen near the front of the Bridge, leaving his hands there for a few seconds before doing it again more quickly before stopping. "Okay. So for anyone interested, this room isn't networked to use handwaves to move the images around. Just a heads up." He said before hopping off the table.

In the Viewport and on the screen a large shuttle could be seen hovering ahead of the Realm. "We're good to go, you can start it up." Richard said. moments before a shimmer emanated from the smaller ship. "That would be the energy field. It works in conjunction with the ship's tractorbeam to effectively buffer what it pulls so that it can pull larger objects into FTL space with it. It was originally developed for use with objects without hyperspace. Asteroids being brought closer for mining, Metioroids being moved before they become meteorites, Moving an uninhabitable planet to a greenzone for settlement, that sort of thing. Someone eventually realized it was great for assisting broken down ships such as this one, and thus several military ships carry a dozen or so spares just in case. Now normally, we'd link into part of the hyperspace 'freeway' as it were that this region uses, but we're not at a connection point, so we'll need to use a relatively slow FTL mode till we get to one, and then it is clear sailing till we arrive, Or, in terms of time, a little more than a day in total travel. The Realm could do it faster on it's own, but it's tech is better." At this point, the space out the viewscreen shifted as the Stars began to move by fast enough to leave trails that eventually blurred together, creating a tunnel effect. "See? Cool."

"You want this room's sensors reconfigured to allow hand direction?" Shaina asked. "I can do that. I think." Her brow wrinkled and she turned to One, "I can do that, right?"

"If you got creative you could make something work, yes."

Shaina turned back to Richard. "I can do that. And how exactly how close are we to wherever if we're going to make it in a day when we're moving this slow?" She shrugged a shoulder at the really rather impressive display on the viewport.

Cassius never stopped watching viewport. "This is...slow?"

Shaina rolled her eyes. "I can still see the stars moving. Doesn't hold a torch to instantaneous TARDIS travel."

"Well, technically we're moving faster in terms of force applied than we will be on the Hyperspace routes, but since those bridge two distant places in order to make them less distant, the difference in travel time is what I'm referring to when I say 'faster'. Think of it like a warp pipe from one dash two to four dash one...." Richard looked around the room at the looks of confusion as he said this. "Right, most of you aren't old enough to have played Mario... I'm dating myself again, aren't I. It's a short cut. Rather than moving really quickly from here to there, it sortof makes there closer to here, so you don't have to move as fast."

"I was always more of a Paper Mario person--hate sidescrollers," Shaina commented casually. She took a last glance at the blurred starfield before heading to the door. "Auf wiedersehn"

"Easy there blondie." Syn chuckled, "The further out you get, the more impatient you grow. You're going to love this roadtrip, something tells me." He noted Shaina's leaving, then nodded to the rest of the room. "Right, I'll be off as well then. Very impressive tow-truck Richie-rich!" And with this, he bowed out of the room.

"Certainly a safer method of transit than my warp jumping." Caulder nodded, admiring the design and staying back a while longer. "I will have to have a chat with some people about possible technological adaptations regarding this in the near future."

Keris' expression gave no hint of whether she found the information - or the view - interesting or not. She returned to the table as the sensor information appeared and watched the display impassively for a short time until people began to depart. Then she too excused herself.

"Now that we're all aware that that ship out there is capable of enclosing ours within its own warp field it's time I went back to check on my search team. And to check up on some security matters. Thank you for the information."

She turned away and this time made it out of the door without interruptions.

Timothy looked at what was going on with something more like Disappointment than Wonder. He was not certain what he had been expecting, but it was only spacial Compression...

He stood when the others began to leave, and made his Way to the Door.

'I shall go and find the Kitchen, I suppose,' he said.

[To the Kitchen.]

"The kitchen sounds like a nice place right about now." Raine decided as Timothy left, and she followed course.

"Richard, would it be too much to ask for a chance to study this energy field technology that shuttle is using at some point in the near future? I believe that I might be able to upgrade my suit's warp-jumping with it." Caulder asked a few moments later, having felt that he had learnt all he could from simply observing the shuttle in the viewport. "Of course, I expect that such information may well be classified, so I do not expect to be allowed. I simply cannot pass up an opportunity to make my primary method of transportation more...well, safe."
