A place for all the Riftweavers to formally introduce themselves and bring up their profiles.

Heading off:

Captain Wolfblade (further name unknown)
Homeworld: Earth (Baseline Terra)
Abilities: Unpowered flight/increased speed and agility. She has the ability to alter her movement through the space around her, making her able to perform stunts that shouldn't be possible, including flight. Because this is a conscious act of altering the space around her, she can move faster than the eye can see, but if not actively using the ability she does not have better reflexes than a normal, well-trained human, nor do she enjoy an increase in strength.
Origins: Captain Wolfblade has been leading the 'Weavers for as long as they know, although it is possible there were others before them. She's approached or rescued most of the others in the group, some of whom went on to rescue others. She was in college when an unidentified creature, likely from a fairy dimension, crawled out of a Hole that had sprung open on campus after a shooting took place there, and proceeded to take the form of a killer from an urban legend and kill the girls in the dorm with all the various creepy ghost-story methods you've ever heard of. She hit her crossover that hellish night when she absorbed too much of the energy leaking out of the Hole. She managed to kill the creature and, clumsily, seal the Hole, but was surprised to find that none of the people investigating the scene seemed to notice her presence or register her absence from the fallen. This was sometime in the mid-1990's, although given the time distortions encountered by the 'Weavers she could easily have aged centuries since then. She doesn't really talk about what happened in between that night and when she began the Riftweavers.
Appearance: Appears to be in her early twenties, dark blond hair in a ponytail, green eyes, pale skin. Wears a worn black canvas coat; usually wears plain dark shirts and pants and work boots.
Weapons: Two bone-handled daggers, a quarterstaff fashioned from a type of very hard wood found on a beach somewhere, a 23rd century Draconian-style pistol, modified for several kinds of 'Weaver energy ammo, including phlebotium, crosshatch, thunder iron, and starfire.

Name: Fleet Captain David Browning Calloway-Musashi
Birthplace: Rinval, Adanac, North America, Earth. (Multiverse Variant Beta Echo 4)
Age: 38 Years, 10 Months
Height: 168.5 cm
Weight: 72.03 kg

Service History:
Captain David "Dave" Musashi comes from the very different multiverse cluster of VB4. There, technology evolved very differently from the Baseline multiverses. Instead of forging ahead in electronics and technology for consumer goods like in Baseline, the bulk of advancements were made in cutting edge physics and super light alloy construction, leading to the creation of a world dominated by two superpowers reminiscent of the cold war with the corrupt and somewhat democratic Adanac standing off against the dynamic, unstable and militaristic empire of Aissur. Both sides deployed the fruits of their bloated research departments: Orbital colonies, flying warships, space based energy weapons, and most impressively of all, gigantic twenty metre tall piloted humanoid mecha.

Thanks to VB4's unique geo-political climate, the militaries of both sides praised certain, slightly different martial virtues. While the pilots of the gigantic war machines that did the heavy slugging ranged from hormone-drenched teens to grizzled veterans, the men who manned and commanded the great flying carriers which served as their bases had to be emphatic to connect with their pilots, who were often as young as sixteen, calm enough under pressure to command a major battlefield unit, and bat shit fucking nuts to fly a giant piece of metal into a battle that resembled a laser light show with all the lasers being replaced with high powered plasma beams. Dave was all three.

When Dave graduated from Adanac Fleet academy, the nation was fighting a desperate and losing world war against their mortal enemies, the Empire of Aissur. Desperately short on trained officers and pilots, the Adanac High Council scraped the bottom of the barrel, and dumped the sludge that turned up into a single dilapidated old battleship with a borderline insane captain; the UAS Daevas. Serving along side a crew of lunatics, test subjects and mercenaries, Dave found himself more than capable of coping with a sharp, cynical tongue, the company of his tactical officer and future wife Leah Calloway and a health supply of very strong coffee. Within a year, the war had mostly been lost, and Dave soon began entertaining thoughts of going home and never touching a command console again.

Then the Zweist showed up.

The Zweist were a quasi alien force, actually humans from a colony that had disappeared long ago. They had in turn, discovered and harnessed the power of the strange mineral Oricalcum, a material which they then used to build a massive strike force and attempt to reclaim their homeworld, Earth, mainly by killing all the humans who still lived on it. The invasion force swept aside the militaries of both sides and forced a surrender. For three years, the crew of the Daevas fought a desperate resistance against the invaders, led by the efforts of the legendary Commander Arteus Ballenburg-Wulfram. Eventually, the various resistance forces of the world united under the leadership of a former Aissurian admiral, Marcus Aldrion, and a single, desperate attack was enough to penetrate the Zweist siege perimeter, threatening their command staff and forcing a surrender.

After the war, Dave married his long time "annoying bitchy shadow" and joined the new orbit based nation that his old superiors were organizing. From there, he joined the newly formed Colonial Orbital Defence Echelon (CODE). After several years of service, VB4 made first contact with the Freikorps and was immediately annexed. the members of CODE were integrated into the Freikorps. Since then, Dave had continued to serve his new superiors as a faithful, if somewhat eccentric officer from his new command, the Battlecruiser CDV Emperor Marcus. Recently, Dave was approached by his superiors and his ship was reassigned to provide fire and logistical support to a newly discovered covert society called the Riftweavers. Dave simply sighed, saluted, nodded and dismissed himself to make a very strong cup of coffee.

Personality: Take three parts Kyon, one part Jack Sparrow and a dash of Horatio Nelson for taste, and you get Dave. Captain Musashi is, first and foremost, captain of a starship, and he's on duty all the time. Although most people recoil at this seemingly uptight description, most relax once they realize that his on-duty behaviour mostly consists of drinking coffee and making snarky comments. While Dave is exceedingly eccentric, he is perfectly sane and remains his deadpan self, even when his bridge is in flames around him. More importantly, Dave is neither reckless nor a coward, he is neither a bloodthirsty madman or an appeaser, he has the perfect formula of diplomacy, iron and bravery, tempered with the experience one can only get by watching humanity nearly get wiped out twice by those "damn kids and their stupid tin robot suits". While it is true Dave is a nut job, he is a rather subdued nut job, one that is, however, QUITE attached to his coffee.

Appearance: Dave is a relatively ordinary looking human male of European and East Asian descent. His skin is pale, his cheekbones and eyes are set maybe a little further up and his hair is most definitely black. He has a lightly built snub of a nose, one that is constantly being highlighted by the look of amused hopelessness which seems to have settled down and started a family on his face. He usually wears his Freikorps Fleet Blues. They are however, not usually perfectly arranged and he often keeps a button open here or there for comfort.

Weapons: Dave isn't really a fighting man. He's a moderately good shot with his Freikorps service pistol, but mostly hopeless with his officer's morphsabre. He does however, tend to carry a case full of surprises with him when going into combat, including, and not limited to: exploding slinkies, homicidal engine gremlins and little duckies made of plastic explosive.

"Those are brave men," he told Ser Balon in admiration. "Let's go kill them."

Name: Never
Homeworld: Unknown
Ability: Never is a shapeshifter of sorts, though her power differs greatly from Icarus's. She doesn't hold different genetic patterns within her body, or things like that. Quite simply, she can alter the very makeup of anything around her, including her own body. This means that the form of anything and everything is subject to her every whim. She has boundaries. She can't change a human into a tree, nor vice versa. She has to have the necessary components of something in order to create it. In order to make a spear, she would have to have metal and wood handy. Never can also alter her body, to change her appearance and shape at will. She can take on the appearance of a normal human, a pitiful old woman, or even a large wolf, whichever the situation requires. There are limits, however. What an object can change into depends on how much matter is available. Think the alchemy from Full Metal Alchemist, only without circles, and the body is just as changeable as the objects that make up the many dimensions. She must also be in contact with what she is changing, as well as the materials she is using to change them.Height: 5'7"
Weight: 109
Appearance: Never's true form is very unique among the infinite races of the dimensions, but it somewhat resembles what we would call an elf, looking to be around the age of a 19 or 20 year old human. Her body is tall and slim, with long pointed ears and emerald catlike eyes. The actual skin is a royal blue, and Never's hair is a bright silver, hanging to her chin in a rough, self-cut bob. Large, angel-like wings lie flat against her back, though they are prone to being absorbed into Never's body when they are not needed. Their color changes constantly, depending on what Never feels like having them be. Her clothes are always black, and she wears the same thing almost always. A black corset sort of thing, with silver ribs and metal plates placed strategically around the vital areas, keeps tight to her skin, and supports her chest, without the painful binding effect of the corsets we know. Her pants and shirt are of the same material as her corset, a silky, other-worldy material Never retains from her homeworld. They stay close to the skin, and cover as much skin as possible, while still allowing Never the freedom of movement she needs. Over that goes a silver breastplate of sorts that covers her chest, shoulders, and a small portion of the neck and back. a wide black belt that ties with leather-like strings fits around her waist, with thin metal plates inside to protect her stomach and kidneys. These plates, like the ones in her corset, won't stop everything, but they're strong enough to stop swords and bullets, though the latter still leaves one heck of a bruise. Boots are the same material as the other clothing, only thicker and tougher, with the same metal plating. The only real accessories she wears are a small sword pendant with a gold hilt and purple blade on a silver chain and a strange gold watch. The watch is a golden color, with a large face. To anyone but her, it would appear a mass of numbers and dials, complicated enough to make one's brain ache. Everything is extremely high quality, and sturdy enough to survive an extremely long time under hard, grueling conditions.

As for her shifted forms, Never takes on the appearance of a 20 year old woman with chin length black hair and black eyes when she needs to appear human. Although she tends to stay in her original form, she enjoys the ability to change her appearance, and loves playing around with it.
Personality: In general, Never has a fairly good outlook on life. She's seen enough good stuff and enough bad stuff that she knows bad things are going to happen no matter your outlook on life, so that outlook might as well be one that'll make the bad times seem less dark and dreary. Obstacles are things to be solved or destroyed, not things to weep and rage over. Those are pointless emotions, wasting energy and accomplishing nothing. Never's had her fair share of tears and lost tempers, of course, but she's not what you would call "emotional." She loves three main things in life- anything physical, technology, and being in dangerous situations, preferably at least 20 feet above the ground. Needless to say, she's an avid climber of anything that can be climbed. This and her travels have given her a healthy love and respect for nature, but if she has to sacrifice a forest to seal a Hole, so be it. There aren't a lot of people she considers friends, seeing as she's spent so long alone, and has become unused to interacting with others. She's not anti-social, just a little unsure of herself. Once you get to know her, she warms up quite a bit, and is actually very sweet, although she seems rather cold at first. The Captain is her friend, the only person she considers to really be one, and she views Icarus as a younger brother of sorts. She is the second oldest member of the 'Weavers, so this sisterly attitude tends to carry over to others, making her slightly protective when it comes to people she cares about.
History: If you asked Never how old she was, where she came from, who her parents are, or what her old home was like, she wouldn't be able to tell you. However, using her watch, Never can tell you exactly how long its been since she left home in whatever measurement of time you want. In Earth years, it's been at least a couple million years on her home world. Which means that there is nothing left for her there, no family or familiar places.

Never does remember how she started her wandering, however. She was scaling a cliff, forced to go the hard way thanks to her crippled wings, and had just reached the top when she found herself face to face with a large, angry monster pulling itself out of a Hole. Never nearly fell into the Hole, getting a good long exposure to the energy, but the monster saved her, ironically, smashing into her with its tail and sending her flying off of the cliff. Never expected to die there, seeing as it was at least an eighty foot drop, but she found herself floating instead, held aloft by something. She looked around, only to discover that her wings were suddenly working again, healed from their crippled state. Odd. Other changes rippled through Never's body as she adapted to this new development. It was a few minutes before she managed to gain control of it and defeat the monster. The hole sealed itself with crosshatch, after Never filled her empty water bottle with it. She'd intended to show it to someone, some authority of some sort, but when she found them, she discovered nobody could see her, and nobody seemed to miss her. So Never reset her watch to zero, opened a hole in the fabric of the universe and left. For some reason, she'd already known how to do it, as if she'd learned before, or as if she'd suddenly learned, with this transformation of hers.

Over time, Never began to forget things, little by little. She'd always had a good memory, but there were so many things to remember now, and memories of her old home began to fade. First it was the name of her homeworld, then memories of her childhood, and then her parents, and then the rest of her life. There are still things she remembers, such as the name of her people, the Aryia, and the homeworld itself. It has changed now, most likely, so Never refuses to go back. She wouldn't, even if she managed to find her way back, an unlikely accomplishment. Her adventures themselves are interesting, but are for another time (I don't want to put too much in here).

It's been 500,000 years since the Captain and Never met, according to Never's watch. The 'Weavers were already a full-fledged organization, and apparently had been one for a while. The Captain (which, as you might have guessed, is what Never always calls her) invited Never into the 'Weavers ranks, and Never accepted, if somewhat unwillingly. She loves wandering, but she was glad to settle down somewhat, and have a purpose in life again. Never soon proved herself to be an able warrior and thinker, and became the Captain's second in command.

When the 'Weavers met the Freikorps, it pricked at Never's mind, as if she was trying to remember something, but Never ignored it. She was too irritated at the Freikorps pointless offer of help. The 'Weavers didn't need the Freikorps, them with their fancy guns and big ships. They had good weapons, the Freikorps, and most of their officers were quite intelligent, but that didn't mean they were actual at all useful here. She told all this and more to the Captain, who shrugged, and said something along the lines of "wait and see." Which didn't do much to lessen Never's annoyance, but she's civil to the Freikorps when she has to interact with them, and she is particularly interested in their technology and weaponry. She's seen better, but the designs are unique, and Never's not one to deny herself an opportunity to explore something new.
Weapons: Among the weapons Never carries are two pistols modified for 'Weaver use, and her canteen of crosshatch, and her pendant. She doesn't need anything else, seeing as how anything around her can be turned into a weapon as needed. The pendant, a small sword, was given to Never given to her a long time ago, because of something Never does not remember. It is enchanted, however, and when Never needs it, it turns from a small pendant into a full sized longsword. What other properties it holds are as of yet unknown, though the metal it is made out of is resistant to scratching and denting. Aside from that, however, Never gets what she needs as she goes.

Name: Ute Kernspecht
Birthplace: Mainz, Germany, Earth (Universe where Nazi regime dominated)
Ability: Teleportation
Age: 23
Height: 168cm
Weight: 49 kg

Bio: Ute was born into a middle-class family to parents who were dedicated opponents of the Nazi regime and worked secretly for the resistance movement. Her father took part in a number of sabotage missions and was an expert with explosives. Although Ute was not herself actively involved in the resistance (she worked as a secretary for a printing company), she did learn a little about explosives from her father. Eventually, her father was caught during a mission, and the entire family was rounded up and sent to a concentration camp and, eventually, to the gas-chambers. As the gas started to spread out through the chamber, and people began to succumb to its effects, a strange, amorphous apparition materialised in the centre of the terrified mass of humanity....

Ute remembers nothing more. Whether she lost consciousness in contact with the gas, or was absorbed by the monstrous creature, she doesn't know. But she woke up in a 'Weavers medical facility to be told she had been rescued and was the only survivor. She has not been with the 'Weavers long and is still finding her feet.

Appearance: Thin, but wiry, and quite strong for her size. Long, very dark brown wavy hair. Fair skin, but quite striking dark brown eyes (which occasionally caused doubts about her ethnicity amongst some of her more "patriotic" peers). Generally wears figure-hugging clothes which further emphasize her skinniness.

Personality: Ute is a worrier, and has rather low self-esteem, but is a lot more capable than she believes. Her experiences have left her with a very strong sense of justice and a hatred of prejudice, and a desire to help those most in need (by underhand means, if necessary). She doesn't trust easily, but once someone gains her trust she is very loyal, and will risk her own safety to help a friend.

Weapons: Currently she just has a simple dagger (teleport in, attack at close range, teleport out again. Rinse and repeat), but she is keen to learn how to use the more hi-tech weapons that some of the other 'Weavers have. However, she is not very technically-minded, and can be a bit of a liability if she hasn't had time to familiarise herself with a gadget's workings.

Name: Hasbro, Second Lieutenant Shadowblade
Birthplace: Unknown
Abilities: Shadowstep
Age: 19
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 134 lb

Bio: Hasbro was born someplace in ancient Egypt. He has since forgotten where. When he was very young, his father was enslaved. His mother fell deathly ill soon afterwards, leaving him to plow the fields and take care of his sisters. One day he was out at the well when he heard a strange rumbling noise coming from deep inside the well. He peered down into it when he was pushed. He managed to grab onto the edge of the well, holding onto the crumbling wall long enough to see that there was nobody around. The clouds flashed red suddenly, just as the well wall gave way. He fell down into the well, but instead of hitting water, he hit concrete in the middle of New York City. He got up shakily and, leaning against a wall, collapsed, where he was quickly found by Captain Wolfblade. He joined the Riftweavers and, through the six years between then and now, has climbed the ranks to become Second Lieutenant Shadowblade.

Appearance: Hasbro, being Egyptian, has the typical bronzed skin of the people in that area. He is lean, muscles honed from years of pushing a plow through the rocky soil and then years of martial arts training with the Riftweavers. His head is shaved, with deep black eyes beneath a light brow. He usually wears dark, loose-fitting clothes.

Personality: Hasbro is a fighter. His mentality is that of kill or be killed, and he fights without mercy, unleashing hell on any who stand in his way. He is quiet, not talking much, but when he does talk, people listens, because it's important.

Weapons: Hasbro doesn't carry many weapons, just a brace of knives on his waist and several blades in his sleeves and in the loose folds of his clothing. His rope belt can be used as a garrote quite easily, and even without his knives and belt, he is a formidable opponent, being a master of judo, tae kwon do, kickboxing, aikido, and jujitsu.

Can you explain exactly what shadowstep and timestep does?

Shadowstep is like a shadowdancer's shadow jump ability in DnD. He melts into shadows and comes out of another shadow. Like teleportation, but only into and out of shadows. Timestep is confusing. Nobody knows how it works, as everything we know suggests that you can't be in the same place at the same time. However, timestep allows you to 'step' through time, disappearing in thin air and appearing out of thin air in the same place, except forwards or back in time. Hasbro first exhibited this ability when he fell into the well. He hadn't had any show of his abilities yet, and thirteen years of not timestepping came out at once, when he fell into the well, where he timestepped and shadowstepped into NYC. In a fight, you could go back in time and help yourself win. The other you(s) would disappear when they jumped back in time to help yourself, because they're you. You end up with only one you in the world, so it works out perfectly.

Like I said, it's confusing.

Minus the Caveat on affecting the past. Logically, you could only use it if you were in a fight you had already helped yourself with.

I picture it as creating duplicates of yourself to make the fight easier on yourself, although you have to survive the fight. It would also be helpful in stakeouts, so you could be in multiple places at once. Say, at the pizza place that's being robbed and the suspected robbers' hideout.

If I may be so bold, it would be easier on everyone involved if you simply put something like "replicate" or "replay" (Like the char of that name in the X-Men movies). If you start messing with time for something as relatively simply as that ability, you're going to get into all kinds of trouble and entanglements. Not to mention the times whe nthe chars actually start time traveling aside from his ability. That's a whole lot of paradox to think through for every potential RP post you make.

Not to mention the fact that it's too powerful. You can keep the 'shadowstep' ability or stay with a 'replicate' ability as Zeth suggested, but you need to pick one.

Experiment 1337 is SO AWESOME, that he was the only 'weaver to be nerfed during his crossover...

...is this still on topic?...

Living in the limelight, the universal dream for those who wish to seem.
Those who wish to be must put aside the alienation,
Get on with the fascination,
The real relation,
The underlying theme.

Barebones profile. May or may not be--er, improved--as events unfold.

Name: Rodney Freeman
Birthplace: Baseline Terra
Age: 18 Terran years
Height: 5'35"
Weight: 169lbs.

Appearance: A fairly ordinary, short and overwei--er, stout--specimen, with slightly tanned skin, a moon face, unkempt short chestnut hair, and half-lidded brown eyes behind a pair of glasses that appear to be a little too large for the wearer. Tends to be found in casual, but neat attire.

Personality: Rodney is perceived as dull-witted to strangers, due to slow, monotonous speech bordering on the robotic, but is more lively and less stilted around familiar figures and chatrooms. Fairly scatterbrained most of the time, displaying a lack of ability to comprehend overly long instructions, and should rarely be trusted to locate unfamiliar paraphernalia, at risk of disaster. Exhibits a fairly limited range of emotional intensity on the outside despite possessing a rather dynamic personality within, which has often been called out by others as "weird", "strange", "eccentric", what-have-you. Fairly empathic and sensitive, and displays some tendencies of selflessness that may or may not lead to trouble down the road.

Is there something wrong with being a little on the short end? :(

But 5 feet 35 inches doesn't make any sense...
That would mean Rodney's 7 feet and 11 inches tall...

I think she means 5.35 feet. Don't look at me, your archaic imperial measurement system is so damn obsolete, don't blame us if CD never never learned to work it.

I would kindly ask you to not refer to it as MY archaic imperial measurement system, kthanxbai.
Afterall, I'm the one constantly telling people to put measurements for profiles in BOTH systems.

This has only just occured to me (being a slow-on-the-uptake sort of person) but how has Hasbro managed to become a master of fifteen martial arts? He went straight from ancient Egypt to the Riftweavers, and he's only been with the Weavers for six years. And the other Weavers weren't really in any position to teach him. 1337?
