For the next 24 hours, I have a new roommate:

Image

This is a kitten that wandered his way into our yard, freezing and hungry, but very friendly. My fiancée and I were content to let him scamper off to wherever he came from, but he followed us into the house. I called animal control to see if they could take him, but the one in my town said that they didn't have provisions for cats, and that we'd have to call the Berlin office the next morning. So we brought him inside and fed him, and are going to shelter him for the night.

He walks with a heavy step and teeters back and forth, but he doesn't appear to be injured. It's really cute to see him brush up against somebody to be pet because he always looks like he's going to fall over.

Full disclosure: I am not a cat person. I never once saw myself in a situation like this. Life is funny sometimes.

But I know I'm going to miss this little guy when we finally get him the help he needs. :(

We don't own a cat, and I'm somewhat allergic to them (though not as much as I used to be, it would appear), but our neighbours' cats have taken to spending more time in our house than in theirs - our neighbour tells me they're scared of their children. I'd post some photos but we're away on holiday and the wi-fi in this cottage seems somewhat dodgy. Not sure I'd manage to upload them without it cutting out.

Oh man I love cats. It would take everything in me not to just keep him. What a cutie pie!

I keep thinking about having that little fluffball tripping and stumbling around the house and it's made me reconsider getting a cat. I had always told Ashley "I want a dog, we're getting a dog" - but after this past weekend, I'm starting to think I want a cat, too.

I almost feel like everyone should have a cat but then I remember people I know who shouldn't be responsible for another living being.

So far, my biggest justification for not already having a pet is that I work 50 hours a week and live in an apartment in what is basically the hood. I wouldn't want to leave a dog or cat alone for that long, and it's not fair to expect my roommates to help care for them.

Someday, though.

It's because we feel it would be unfair to leave a dog alone for hours at a time while we're out at work that's stopped mac and me from having one. Maybe when we retire... XD

Cats are easier to leave alone than dogs though. I mean I would spend more than that away from home in grad school and Kitty was always fine. She isn't living with me now simply because of space reasons.

Yes, so long as a cat has a cat-flap, they can come and go as they please, and they're usually more happy to be alone than dogs (though you wouldn't think so from our neighbours' cats XD).

Today I learned that if you walk up to the receptionist and hold up a mechanical pencil, upside-down, while making a sad face, she lets you into the supply cabinet.

And I'm one of those people who get super excited about having new office/school supplies.

Ethan linked me to this. Anyone fancy some real-life, bullet-proof Boba Fett armour? http://tribunist.com/news/ballistic-arm ... source=AFY
