“I don’t imagine you will dispute the fact that at present the stupid people are in an absolutely overwhelming majority all the world over.” ~ Henrik Ibsen; Enemy of the People
Zeth wandered in after Retro came screaming out. This entire thing was way out of hand. And his lovely bistro would never recover! Oh what beastly events! Some people just had no decency. He would just have to go in there himself to see what all this was about. He was sure Officer Piggie, that oaf, was getting nowhere. And Retro? He refused to think about it. He walked to the back of the store, where he could here people talking. Specifically, he could hear Officer Piggie.
"You have the right to remain silent, you have the right to..." he slowed for a moment, "well you got rights ok!" He was handcuffing what looked to be a particularly adult magazine. "I'm taking you into custody." Zeth couldn't tell if that poor man was sane or not. He seemed slightly too happy to be taking that particular magazine into custody.
Behind Officer Piggie stood Sinister Obsession and his own employee, Cryssy Chu. What? She couldn't be involved in this.
He walked up to the trio, "Officer Piggie? What is the meaning of all this?"
Officer Piggie looked at him and gave a slow blink. "Well... there was a theft of your keys, and then you got nervous so you asked me to investigate but then decided to just install cameras and then--"
"Not that you buffoon! THIS!" He gestured all around him. Then he pointed to Cryssy and Sinister. "And what are you two doing in here?" He turned back to Piggie, "And why are you arresting that-that-that thing, when these fellows have obviously just broken into my establishment?"
"We were playing poker." Sinister blurted.
Zeth felt his face flush, "You broke into my restaurant? To play POKER?!" It was too much. "Get out. Just leave. And you shall receive no further service at this Café, sir!"
Cryssy lifted a finger and stuck out her upper lip, "Well, Mr. Holt...I was just playing cards...I didn't think you would me having the keys just to play in that little office of yours. You never really use it anyway..."
Zeth looked at her, "Ok then. That's fine."
Sinister's jaw dropped. "I just said that I was doing the same thing! And she said she stole your keys to boot. Ho come you aren't mad at her?"
Zeth gave the same look Piggie had given him earlier. "I just did the only thing that makes sense."
Sinister just continued to stare at him. "How does that make any sense, whatsoever?"
This time Zeth, Cryssy, and Piggie gave him a look. A bored look, the same kind an arrogant tutor would give a retarded child.
"He's right Sinister." Cryssy said.
"Of course I am," Zeth said irritatedly, "are you dense or something?"
"Must just be stupid." Piggie offered.
Sinister just stumbled out of the store. I'm confused, he thought. Maybe I just need some sleep...
